Leão’s new reinforcement was loaned to the club until the end of 2025

Left-back Hugo is the seventh reinforcement to be announced by Vitória for the 2025 season. The player’s announcement took place during the afternoon of this Tuesday (7), through Leão’s social networks. New defender arrives at Leão on loan from Botafogo until the end of 2025. The contract also provides for a purchase option at the end of the period.
Hugo arrives at Toca do Leão at the request of coach Thiago Carpini. The 23-year-old full-back was revealed by Botafogo’s youth teams and made his professional debut in 2020. Last year, the full-back lived his season with more chances in the Rio club’s main team, with 40 games – including 27 as a starter -, among Campeonato Carioca, Copa do Brasil, Sudamericana and Série A. He scored a goal and provided two assists.
In 2024, the player played 33 matches, scored two goals and provided seven assists, in addition to winning the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores. However, Hugo lost space during the season, largely due to the reinforcements that Botafogo brought during the year. He finished as just the fourth option on the squad, behind Alex Telles, Cuiabano and Marçal. Despite this, he played nine duels in Serie A and 11 in continental competition.
Now at Vitória, Hugo will compete for position with Lucas Esteves, a red-and-black standout during the last Brasileirão. It is worth remembering that the red and black team will face five competitions this season: Sudamericana, Campeonato Baiano, Copa do Nordeste, Copa do Brasil and Série A.
