The first semi-final of the Allianz CUP, between Sporting CP and FC Porto, stood out as a celebration of inclusion, promoted by the Football Foundation – Liga Portugal in collaboration with the Smile It’s Autism and Mother Talks projects.
At Leiria Municipal Stadium – Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, the players entered accompanied by 12 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who used headphones to isolate sound stimuli, allowing them to experience the show more comfortably. Reinforcing the message of inclusion, the team captains also displayed their headphones, symbolizing support for autism and the idea that football is for everyone.
Each child was accompanied by a friend, making the experience even more special. This initiative not only promotes inclusion, but also raises awareness of the challenges faced by children with ASD and their families, highlighting the importance of a more informed and supportive society.
The Smile It’s Autism and Mother Talks projects were partners in this action. The first is a virtual community with more than 450 fathers and mothers who share experiences and offer mutual support. Mother Talks focuses on welcoming atypical families, especially after diagnosis, promoting strategies and self-care.

All mothers, fathers and others who deal with them must feel represented and proud.
They deserve to be part of the spectacle with conditions in the stadiums, like anyone else.— Pedro Cardoso (@ccmp04)
