With the Esplanada dos Ministérios partially closed from 9 am, Avenida S1 for those going down to Praça dos Três Poderes will have two barriers as part of the security scheme for the event on January 8th this Wednesday (8).
The first blocking point is on Avenida José Sarney, carried out by the Military Police, with personal and backpack searches. Pocket knives, sharp objects and dangerous objects will not be authorized.
There will also be a second barrier, made by members of the Institutional Security Office (GSI). At this point, metal detectors will be used.
After these two blocks, people who want to participate in the events will be able to move to Avenida S1, in a kind of funnel, to Praça dos Três Poderes.
In the square, fences reinforce security in the “Bandeirão” part, where the Brazilian flag flies. Fire Department vehicles will be on standby.
On the avenues behind the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Palácio do Planalto, police officers from the Shock Battalion and the PM cavalry will be on standby ready to act if necessary.
The actions are part of the Integrated Actions Protocol (PAI), prepared by the Public Security Secretariat of the Federal District (SSP-DF) for the event “A Hug in Defense of Democracy”, scheduled for 12:30 pm, at Praça dos Três Poderes. Before that, a ceremony organized by Palácio do Planalto is scheduled for 11am.
The executive secretary of SSP-DF, Alexandre Patury, told CNN that any and all possible threats of attacks on institutions are monitored by the special office that was set up in the department. Open social networks and internet discussion forums are also inspected.
The company has intelligence representatives and security and intelligence forces from Brazil and has 1,300 cameras available throughout the Federal District and in the center of Brasília.
