Fires leave at least two dead in Los Angeles

‘More than 2,000 hectares were burned and the fire is increasing’, says head of the Fire Department

At least two people died and several were seriously injured in the explosions in the suburbs of , on the west coast of the United States, firefighters reported this Wednesday (8). “Unfortunately, we have two people, of unknown causes at this time, and a significant number of injuries,” said Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Anthony Marrone.

The fire broke out on Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood of luxury homes owned by Hollywood celebrities, in the mountains overlooking the city’s northwest. “More than 2,000 hectares have been burned and the fire is growing,” Marrone said. A second large fire was burning around Altadena, north of the city, where images showed flames consuming entire streets.
