New Leão player minimizes having only signed a one-year contract and hopes to be able to stay at the club longer

After Claudinho and Thiaguinho, striker Bruno Xavier was officially presented by Vitória this Tuesday afternoon (7) alongside defender Zé Marcos. With a contract signed until the end of 2025, the new player for the red-black team valued the opportunity and minimized the length of his contract with the club, as he hopes to be able to stay longer at Toca do Leão.
“I see it as the biggest opportunity of my life. I’ve been through a lot in the last few years professionally, I’ve matured a lot to become a better person and today I’m prepared for this opportunity, regardless of the length of my contract. I have great hope that I can do my best for the institution”, he gave the message.
Gratitude for the opportunity arises from a wasted chance in his career, as the player himself assesses. In 2018, Bruno was hired by Corinthians, but played little and continued his career in other teams. “I couldn’t give such proportion to the opportunity I was receiving. Today [sou] a little more experienced,” he said.
Bruno Xavier can play both as a midfielder and as a striker on the edge, where he had the most minutes in the Ituano team during the Serie B dispute. In the second division, the 28-year-old player scored eight goals and contributed two assists. Considering the entire season, there were 13 direct participations in goals, nine of which were scored and four passes were offered.
At Vitória, the striker reunites with midfielder Thiaguinho, with whom he has already shared a dressing room at other clubs. Together with their former teammate, the duo has already worked with coach Thiago Carpini at Água Santa in 2023, at Santo André in 2022 and in 2021 at Inter de Limeira. Bruno Xavier was also led by the Leão coach at Ferroviária, in 2022.
Despite working together, the relationship between the two does not deviate from normality. “I had the opportunity to work a little more with Carpini, but this relationship is one of dedication, focus and being very centered. That’s what he always emphasizes, he’s going to play his best. The athlete who dedicates himself and focuses only on the field will receive opportunities” he explained.
