New Year’s Eve was just over a week ago, even though it feels a lot longer. It has been almost seven years since one of our traditional New Year’s Eve customs was put to an end: in 2018, the sale of lead for lead casting was banned for health reasons. The heavy metal is quite toxic and causes all sorts of problems. And particularly in (small) children, contact with lead can cause lasting damage to cognitive development.
