The Institute of Weights and Measures of Acre (IPEM/AC) started this Monday (06), Operation Safe Classes. The initiative seeks to monitor the quality and safety of school materials sold in Rio Branco, ensuring that they comply with the standards established by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro).
The main focus of the action is to reduce the risk of consumer accidents that could endanger the health and safety of children under 14 years of age.
Several items present in the list of school supplies, such as sharpeners, erasers, pencils, crayons, lunch boxes, blunt scissors, text markers and others, can only be sold if they bear the Inmetro seal, which attests to compliance with standards safety and suitability for the age group.
During the operation, which should take place by January 10, Ipem-AC inspectors will visit commercial establishments, focusing on stationery stores, to check whether the products are being sold in accordance with current legislation.
The event seeks to raise awareness among both traders and consumers about the importance of purchasing certified products, ensuring the safety and quality of school materials.
