McDonald’s promotes the biggest reformulation of its menu of offers in years in the USA

In the American summer of last year, it brought back a US$5 offer (about R$30), with plans to keep the offer for just one month. However, as consumers returned to the network, the company continued to extend the promotion period. Now, not only will this discounted meal continue indefinitely in the United States, but McDonald’s is increasing the offer.

The fast-food giant has overhauled its menu of offerings in the US, keeping the $5 meal but also adding a new “buy one, add one for $1” option. Options for this promotion include breakfast items like the Egg McMuffin, as well as daytime menu options like chicken nuggets and a double cheeseburger. Local deals and in-app promotions are also included, such as free medium fries with a $1 purchase every Friday through 2025 and a free McCrispy chicken sandwich for new users of the chain’s app.

To promote the new menu of offerings, McDonald’s recruited actor John Cena. The promotions come into effect this Wednesday (8) in the USA.

Continues after advertising

“When it comes to offerings, we know there is no one-size-fits-all solution. We worked closely with our franchisees to create a new platform that will allow our customers to define value on their own terms,” said Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, in a statement.

The extended offers come after the company faced one last October that arose from a batch of contaminated onions. One person died, 10 were hospitalized and almost 50 fell ill. Several burgers, including the Quarteirão com Queijo, have been removed from many locations across the US. (This item is already on the menu.)

This followed consumer complaints that the network had become too expensive earlier this year. Customers complained at the time about $8 chicken sandwiches and $18 Big Mac meals, creating the term “McFlation.”
