Authorities ordered the evacuation of at least 30,000 people, abandoned cars initially complicated the arrival of rescue vehicles. “People were getting out of their cars with their dogs, children and bags, crying and screaming,” the agency quoted local resident Kelsey Trainor as saying. Due to the difficult weather conditions, the firefighters were forced to withdraw the fire-fighting aircraft. About 200,000 residents are currently without electricity, the authorities estimate that the preventive disconnection may affect up to half a million people.
