LOS ANGELES (AP) — A wildfire in Los Angeles raged across about 80 acres on Tuesday, threatening homes in an upscale neighborhood. The authorities had already warned in advance of extreme fire risks caused by dry, strong winds and ordered evacuations. The Pacific Palisades fire, between Santa Monica and Malibu, led firefighters to evacuate a large area from the hills of Topanga Canyon to the coast. Huge clouds of smoke were visible for miles as the flames approached homes.
