Miss Araucária 2024, Gabrielly Vitória, 19 years old, had her title revoked on Tuesday (7). The competition coordinator made the decision after a video published by the young woman, in which she appears throwing one to scare away cats, spread across social media. The controversy reached the delegate and federal deputy Matheus Laiola (União), who classified the miss’s action as a joke in bad taste and an act of animal abuse.
In the video published on the networks, the miss initially states that she will “explode the firecracker on the cats”. Then, she corrects herself and states “not to throw firecrackers at the cats, God forbid I say anything like that, but to blow up the firecracker to scare them away”. She then points out the location where the animals are and throws a firecracker in their direction.
Contest coordinator takes a stand
After the repercussion of the video, the competition organizers published an official note, announcing Gabrielly’s dismissal from the post. Thus, the contest coordination states that it “does not condone such an attitude” and adds that the action does not “represent what is expected of a miss, which, among other things, is the defense for animals”.

The traditional Miss Araucária had access this Tuesday morning (07) to the video showing Miss Araucária 2024 releasing firecrackers to scare away cats from a person’s house.
The contest coordination does not agree with this attitude and we believe that this action does not represent what is expected of a Miss, which, among other things, is the defense of animals. Therefore, this coordination decides to revoke its title.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding.
Coordination of Traditional Miss Araucária
After the controversy, Gabrielly Vitória also took a position in a note, in which she stated that she had not mistreated any animal. Furthermore, she explains that “her reign as Miss Araucária had already ended in November 2024”.
