Here it is again: you press the button, but the TV does not respond. Maybe the battery is dead, but maybe there is a problem with the remote control. Many problems can be solved by tin foil at such a time.
Tin foil, as we well know, is made of aluminum (that’s where its name comes from – “al” as aluminum, meaning aluminum in Latin, and “wrapping” doesn’t need to be explained), which conducts electricity well. Until relatively recently, aluminum cables were routinely installed in homes as conductors. Today, this is no longer the case, but that does not change anything about its physical properties.
Why put tin foil in the controller? The answer comes from a video from Smart Fox on youtube:

Don’t throw away, go with your imagination
So in what case can aluminum foil help us in repairing a non-functioning TV remote control? It’s nothing complicated. It may happen that in an older product there is already a “tired” feather that holds the battery on the minute pole and presses it to the contact on the positive side. At such a moment, there seems to be nothing left but to replace the controller with a new one. But we can help ourselves with aluminum foil.
Just a piece of aluminum foil
Tear off a piece of aluminum foil and fold it into a small square that fits in the battery compartment between its end and the contact in the controller. Before you put the battery in its place, first place the folded foil to the positive contact projection.
Only then install the battery in the already reduced space. This will achieve a simple effect – even a less flexible spring will do its job again without problems, because it will not have to press the battery with such force. Done – solved. Isn’t that a brilliant idea?
Longer battery life
Another case that can be solved this way, although we probably don’t see it that often, is simply a shorter battery. It can happen from a certain manufacturer or with imported special products. Here, too, we can easily help ourselves with a piece of aluminum foil, without having to look for a new monocell on Sunday evening, for example. In addition, this trick will help batteries that are almost dead to continue operating for several days to come.
Boost your internet signal
Aluminum foil can also help in other unexpected places in the home. In the event that you are faced with a Wi-Fi signal failure, you can probably solve the problem by simply placing a foil near the router or directly on it.
Take a larger bottle and wrap several layers of aluminum foil around it. Once it holds its shape well, remove the bottle and place this aluminum “cap” on the router. Then you will only be able to enjoy the Internet without the previous outages.
Foil as an energy saver
In addition to the mentioned situations, aluminum foil in the home can also help save energy consumption. Just place it on the wall behind the radiators in the winter and see how much of a difference it makes. But you have to attach it to the wall correctly, i.e. with the shiny side out. It creates a reflective surface and the heat that would otherwise be absorbed by the cold wall will be mostly returned back into the room. You will be warmer and the energy savings (including the financial ones) will not take long to come.
