Federal deputy Luciene Cavalcante (PSOL-SP) submitted a nomination request to the (Ministry of Education) to include the book by , in the National Literary Textbook Program, a catalog of works recommended for the public education network.

The intention is for the work to be worked on in the classroom in public basic education schools in the federal, state, municipal and district networks.

In the application, the parliamentarian says that the book has a “sensitive and deeply human narrative”. The work tells the story of Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s mother, Eunice Paiva, and the disappearance of the author’s father, Rubens Paiva, during the .

“The author constructs an autobiographical and historical account that allows the debate on contemporary and historical issues in Brazil, including the impact of the military dictatorship and the struggles for justice and equality”, writes the deputy.

She states that the book’s “accessible and engaging language is ideal for use in the classroom, meeting both the interests of young readers and the pedagogical demands of transversal themes, such as citizenship, human rights and history.”

“It is a work that values ​​democracy and the Brazilian Constitution, which defends the pillars of freedom of expression and free thought, without any form of censorship.”

According to Cavalcante, inclusion will expand public school students’ access “to a work that enriches the cultural repertoire and contributes to the formation of a critical and reflective view of Brazilian reality.”
