President of the Republic heard the parties represented in the Madeira Assembly – all asked for early elections.
André Ventura wants one and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa even convened a Council of State – but about the political situation in Madeira.
The President of the Republic convened the Council of State for January 17th, after hearing this Tuesday the parties represented in the Regional Legislative Assembly of Madeira, following the request to the Regional Government.
“Following the hearing of the political parties represented in the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the President of the Republic decided to convene, under constitutional terms, the Council of State for January 17th, at 3 pm, for the purpose of pronouncing on the terms of article 145, paragraph a), of the Constitution”, says one published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic on the Internet.
Pursuant to article 133, paragraph j), of the Constitution of the Republic, the President of the Republic may “dissolve the Legislative Assemblies of the autonomous regions, after consulting the Council of State and the parties represented in them”. Article 145, paragraph a), establishes that it is the responsibility of the State Council “to pronounce on the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic and the Legislative Assemblies of the autonomous regions”.
In other words, after next week’s State Council, Marcelo must dissolve the legislative assembly and schedule elections in Madeira for March 16th.
The head of state, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, he heard this Tuesday the parties politicians sitting in the Regional Legislative Assembly of Madeira, in descending order of representation: PSD, PS, JPP, Chega, CDS-PP, IL and PAN.
All the parties called for early electionspreferably as quickly as possible.
