The Matilha Padel Team celebrates its third anniversary with another edition of its Solidarity Tournament, taking place from the 10th to the 12th of January at the Clube de Ténis e Padel de Portimão. This sporting and solidarity event, which in 2024 brought together 120 athletes and raised 5 thousand euros, in addition to essential goods, aims to support social causes and promote the practice of paddle tennis.
Created by a group of friends passionate about padel, the Matilha Padel Team grew quickly, today with 570 participants. From the beginning, the team stood out for its commitment to solidarity initiatives, including helping children from social institutions in Portimão practice sports.
This year, the tournament will support Alice Soares (Fundprettyalice) and Francisca dos Santos (Cantinho da Francisca), children who need expensive medical treatments. The amounts raised from registrations and support from associated companies will be directed to these causes. Additionally, collecting lids, corks and caps will help support Constança () and Vicente ().
Children’s goods and clothing will also be collected and delivered to institutions and . The event will also feature the presence of local inclusion and volunteering projects, such as – Inclusive Holidays for the Algarve Community (Association), and , which will have space to publicize their initiatives.
To liven up the event, there will be moments of music and dance, with DJ João Mira, Dança Mais Portimão (Saturday), Giletes D’Aço (Sunday) and Magia com Impacto, providing entertainment for all participants and supporters.
The 3rd Matilha Padel Team Charity Tournament reaffirms the team’s commitment to solidarity and support for the community, promising to be a memorable weekend for sport and social causes.
