“We privatized Impsa”, said the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, on his account on X, formerly Twitter
The government of Argentine president, Javier Milei, announced this Wednesday, the 8th, the first privatization of a company under his administration by granting a majority stake in a metallurgical company to a consortium with North American capital.
“We privatized Impsa,” said the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, on his account on X, formerly Twitter, in which he published a statement explaining the agreement with Industrias Metalúrgicas Pescarmona.
The ministry’s statement states that the official decision to sell shares held by the State is in line with the objective of “zero deficit” and the non-allocation of federal resources to private companies, “thus opening up the possibility for the company to continue its healthy way within a market economy structure”.
The province of Mendoza, which has an equity stake in Impsa, expressed its willingness to support the national government’s decision.
