Police target suspects of moving more than R$20 million through gambling

The Civil Police carried out arrest warrants, this Thursday morning (9), against suspects to move more than R$20 million with exploration through games of chance, in Aparecida de Goiânia and Goiânia (GO) and in the city of Formosa da Serra Negra (MA).

According to the investigation, the group used a facade aimed at installing internet equipment, when in fact these devices worked like “slot machines”.

The operation, carried out this Thursday morning (9), mobilized 60 civil police officers to comply 38 precautionary measuresbeing nine warrants house searches, seven temporary arrests, 21 kidnappings of vehicles and the lock of bank accounts.

Operation Old Games investigations began in 2024, after two illegal gaming machineslike “slot machines”, beings seized in a commercial establishment.

On that occasion, the owner of the place presented false documents and contracts of a gaming company, in addition to presenting copies of invoices for the uniforms and a copy of a fraudulent official document from the Civil Police, when trying to prove legal action of illicit practice.

According to the Civil Police, over the course of eleven months, financial transactions exceeded R$20 million and the evidence points to the crimes money laundering, ideological falsehood, in addition to the exploitation of gambling.

According to the corporation, during this period, around 100 “slot” machines were seized in the metropolitan region of Goiânia in similar situations.
