Los Angeles firefighters are battling six large active fires, considered “some of the most historic fire conditions on record,” and about 130,000 people have been impacted by evacuation orders.

Strong winds continue through the night while fires are still burning. Residents were advised to help first responders by staying informed, prepared to evacuate and staying away from impacted areas.

Here is the latest news from the past few hours:

Sixth fire: near Runyon Canyon on Wednesday night (8).

A mandatory evacuation order is in effect for Laurel Canyon Boulevard (to the west) to Mulholland Drive (to the north) to the 101 Freeway (to the east) to Hollywood Boulevard (to the south).

Evacuation orders: About 130,000 people are impacted by warnings or evacuation orders due to the Eaton and Palisades fires, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna.

More than 70,000 people were under evacuation orders or warnings from the Eaton Fire, and about 60,000 people from the Palisades Fire.

Energy restored to many: A little more than 120 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers are still without power after crews were able to restore power to 133,000 others, said CEO and chief engineer Janisse Quiñones.

More than 39,600 Southern California Edison customers were without power in Los Angeles County, according to PowerOutage.us.

Where are the main fires: The Palisades Fire has burned more than 6,394 acres with 1,792 personnel assigned to fight the blaze, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley.

More than 283 acres were impacted by the Hurst Fire, with 260 personnel assigned. And the Woodley Fire is now contained to approximately 12 acres.

Eaton is currently on 4,280 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The Lidia fire near Acton has burned more than 137 acres.

Historical fire conditions: Extreme fire weather in Southern California has sparked wildfires across the region, according to Crowley. Strong, erratic winds and low humidity continue to worsen conditions.

The Palisades Fire “continues to require significant local, regional, state and federal resources,” Crowley said, describing the incident as “very dynamic.”
