The “Actually Smart Summon” feature allows you to summon an (empty) car that is parked. It doesn’t always go well – but the scale of accidents is very small.
The features and technologies linked to cars make driving easier for many people. But not everything works out.
Since September, the Tesla has a feature called “Actually Smart Summon”which allows call the (empty) car that is parked.
The driver is a few meters away from the car and does not need to go to the place where the car is; brings the vehicle to your sidethrough this functionality.
Tesla is being investigated in the USA because of this option, advances .
The authority responsible for road safety announced on Monday that it had received “multiple stories” of accidents related to this feature – which is present in around 2.6 million Tesla cars.
In these accidents, the car owner was unable to avoid the accident, or due to problems with line of sight or because of reaction time.
Still according to the authority, the cars failed to detect poles or other cars parked. And they didn’t prevent the accident.
Examples of accidents: a Model 3 collided with a parked car – which had a passenger inside; or a Model Y that made an unexpected turn and crashed into another vehicle.
However, the same source points out, no people died or were injured as a consequence of these accidents – which were only four, that are registered; although others 12 reports are being investigated.
Tesla, which (again) did not respond to journalists’ questions on the subject, indicates on its website that this feature should only be used in private propertiesand not in public areas.
