Video: Works destroyed on 8/1 return to Planalto – 01/08/2025 – Brasília Hoje

The historical pieces that were destroyed in the coup attacks on January 8, 2023 were restored and returned to Palácio do Planalto throughout this week.

This Wednesday (8), the government held a ceremony in memory of the episode of vandalism at the headquarters of the Three Powers with the official presentation of the recovered works.

(6): “As mulattas”, by Di Cavalcanti; the wood sculpture by Frans Krajcberg; and the bronze sculpture “The Pied Piper”, by Bruno Giorgi.

In total, 20 works were restored in a laboratory with specialists created at Palácio da Alvorada, and will be reintegrated into the presidency’s collection.

Only the one in 1808, which arrived on Tuesday (7), was restored in Switzerland, at no cost to the Brazilian government. At the time of the attacks, images from the Planalto’s internal circuit, which were restored in Switzerland.

  • The Pied Piper: Metal sculpture by Bruno Giorgi (Brazilian artist) – is alongside Di Cavalcanti in the filming
  • The Mulatas: Painting by Di Cavalcanti
  • Idria (Italian Majolica): Ceramic vase
  • Dom João 6° clock, by the artist Balthazar Martinot and And’re Boulle, in the 17th century. The work is one of the oldest in the presidency’s collection
