Gusttavo: position, contract and termination fine
Gusttavo de Sousa Oliveira was born on January 10, 2006, in the city of Riachão, in the interior of Maranhão. He went to live in Palmas, the state capital, at a very young age, and in the city he entered FlaPalmas, Flamengo’s official school in the capital of Tocantins.

Luiz Eduardo Pezão, president of the FlaPalmas school, highlighted Gusttavo’s characteristics.
– Gusttavo caught attention as soon as he arrived at school due to his determination and willpower. A thin, tough boy, he was developing, he had a very good 1 x 1, he dribbled, he went forward, with a lot of desire. We believed a lot in him, he stood out, developed during trips, training, there was no shortage of things. We put him in any position and he played well, established himself on the side and won the title of best in the state – said Luiz Eduardo Pezão, in an interview with the website “DaBase.com.br”.
Observed by the department of scout base, Gusttavo was called for testing in Rio de Janeiro and ended up approved, but had to postpone the change due to the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the fall of the pandemic, Gusttavo moved to Rio in August 2021. After great performances at the base, he signed a three-year contract in July 2023. Flamengo placed a termination fine of 50 million euros (R$315 million) on contract.
In the final stretch of 2023, two clubs tried to sign Gusttavo. Red Bull Bragantino and Bahia were interested in the full-back, but Flamengo didn’t even open talks with both, believing in the player’s evolution.

Flamengo signed up 30 players to compete in the Copa São Paulo. Rubro-Negro took a “B team” to the tournament, as the team’s main under-20 players will compete in the Campeonato Carioca.
