Former councilor Francisco Eudes Alves Gomes, from the city of Tianguá (CE), died on Thursday afternoon (9), after being stung by a swarm of bees. Eudim Pirrita, as he was known, was attacked by insects while taking care of his farm, in the rural area of the municipality, located around 330 kilometers from Fortaleza.

According to family members, even though he was rescued and taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Tianguá, Eudim did not resist the attack due to anaphylactic shock.

The incident happened when Eudim, 70 years old, was cleaning land for agricultural activities. During the process, he accidentally hit a tree housing a hive of bees, which triggered the attack.

Images of the moment show Eudim trying to protect himself while his body was covered by insects. See below:

The politician and businessman was rescued by family members and taken to the UPA, but he could not resist the effects of the stings and died due to anaphylactic shock, caused by excess apitoxin injected by bees. Venom is used by bees as one of the forms of defense and protection of the hive.

On social media, Tianguá City Hall mourned the death of the former councilor and expressed solidarity with his family and friends.

Councilor of Tianguá for four non-consecutive terms, Eudim Pirrita’s last years in politics were between 2013 and 2016. The politician’s body is veiled in the Tianguá City Council this Friday morning (10).
