The Judicial Court of Portimão applied the coercion measure of preventive detention to one of the four detained on Tuesday, in the Algarve, for drug trafficking, in an operation in which almost 2 thousand doses of cocaine were seized.
The Republican National Guard (GNR) said this Friday in a statement that different coercive measures were applied to each of the four defendants: preventive detention, daily presentation to the authorities, weekly presentation and identity and residence term (TIR).
The GNR, through the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of Portimão, arrested four men on Tuesday and charged a fifth, aged between 30 and 41, for drug trafficking in the municipalities of Portimão, Lagos and Lagoa .
According to the security force, the operation represented the culmination of an investigation that lasted approximately 18 months, with the aim of dismantling a network that operated in the western Algarve region.
On Tuesday, the military carried out six house searches and eight vehicle searches, which resulted in the arrests and the constitution of a fifth man as an accused.
During the operation, among other material, 1,996 doses of cocaine, a drug product, a digital scale and 20 cell phones were also seized.
The action was supported by the NIC and Faro Intervention Detachment, Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) and the Lagos PSP.
