A truck driver was intercepted with a rivet plate and without resting for 25 hours on BR-376, in Mandaguari, in the northwest of Paraná. On Thursday night (9), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) carried out an inspection focused on the Rest Law and identified a driver with signs of fatigue and excessive load.
The driver was approached at km 201, on BR-376. As soon as he got out of the vehicle, the agents noticed his appearance of tiredness. The police searched the truck and located a rivet pack, with some pills missing. When questioned, the truck driver confessed to ingesting three portions.
Based on information from the tachograph, the police identified that the truck driver had been traveling for more than 25 hours, without rest stops. The driver only took a few food breaks.
To the agents, the 37-year-old driver revealed that he left Várzea Grande/MT and intended to unload in Porto Amazonas/PR. The journey is approximately 1,700 kilometers and can take more than 30 hours, without rest stops. With around 400 kilometers to go, the driver was intercepted and fined. In addition to the consumption and possession of rivet, which is a drug that inhibits dreams and is prohibited for sale and manufacture in Brazil, the truck driver was fined for overloading, as the vehicle had a total gross weight of 77 tons.

The PRF began the legal rest operation across the country last Monday (6), which aims to intensify inspections of cargo vehicles.
The main objective of the action is to ensure compliance with the mandatory rest period for drivers and to check the safety conditions of vehicle braking systems, aiming to reduce the risk of traffic accidents on federal highways.
