Karoline Edtstadler is to become state governor in her home town of Salzburg. She was previously mentioned as a possible Nehammer successor in the Chancellery, and also as a possible EU Commissioner, but nothing came of it. Not that Edtstadler wasn’t an attractive candidate, but she didn’t have enough power and probably scared off some important ÖVP men with her self-confidence.
