According to firefighters, 5 people died and more than 2,000 buildings were hit by the flames.

Images on social media show the before and after of the city of Los Angeles, in the United States, after several people caused the evacuation of at least 130,000 inhabitants from their homes. The city has about 10 million people.

The strong wind that affects Los Angeles, caused by the dry weather, caused the fire to spread quickly. At least 5 people died. According to the news portal more than 2,000 buildings were affected or destroyed by the flames.

More than 1,000 buildings are estimated to have been destroyed in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood alone, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The region, where Topanga State Park is located, between the coastal areas of Santa Monica and Malibu, is known for being inhabited by celebrities, such as actors Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper.

Among the famous people who needed it were Ben Affleck, Mark Hamill, Billy Crystal, Eugene Levy and John Goodman. The Los Angeles Walk of Fame, one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city, went on yellow alert on Wednesday (8 January) due to the fire in the Hollywood mountains.

On social media, internet users share images and videos of the region before and after the destruction. President Joe Biden (Democratic Party) issued a decree on Wednesday (8 January 2025) recognizing that there was a disaster of major proportions in the State.
