The prices of selected fuels rose sharply at the beginning of the new year and reached new multi-month highs. Diesel fuel reached the average price of half a year ago, both gasoline 95 and gasoline 98 were the most expensive in the last five months (from mid-August 2024). The Statistical Office (ŠÚ) of the Slovak Republic informed about it.
During the 1st week of 2025 gasoline 98 rose by 4.6 cents to 1.764 euros per liter. Average selling price of motorists preferred gasoline 95 was 1.561 euros, 3.7 cents more as in the previous week. Diesel fuel was sold for 1.509 euros, which represented an increase of 3.5 cents.
Gas prices also rose at the beginning of the year. CNG (compressed natural gas) rose in price by 8 cents to 1.631 euros per kilogram. LNG (liquefied natural gas) was sold for 1.715 euros per kilogram, so consumers paid an extra 3.5 cents. The price of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) jumped by two cents to 0.768 euros per liter.
The current average prices of selected fuels were also slightly higher in the year-on-year comparison. Gasoline natural 98 by 1.1%, natural 95 by 0.5% and diesel by 0.4%. LPG was more expensive by 8.5% year-on-year, LNG by 7.1% and bioLNG by 2.9%. Only CNG gas was sold cheaper than a year ago, by 1.2%.
