During Friday, especially in the morning, stronger winds should be expected in the west of Slovakia, also in mountainous areas, where the second level of wind warning applies. In most areas, meteorologists are also warning of the formation of snow tongues and drifts. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about this on its website.
Strong winds with gusts of 135 to 160 kilometers per hour are expected by SHMÚ in the morning on the Tatra ridges in the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Liptovský Mikuláš, Poprad, Ružomberok and Tvrdošín. It can even be a strong gale. The first level warning against wind in the mountains also applies to the districts of Žilina, Martin, Dolný Kubín and Námestovo. It can also blow stronger in the Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and Trenčín regions, where a first-level wind warning is valid until 12:00 p.m. It can reach a speed of 65 to 75 kilometers per hour in impacts.
Snow tongues and drifts can form throughout the day in most of the territory, with the exception of the Trnava, Nitra and Bratislava regions.
