The president-elect of the United States was convicted this Friday, but will not serve time. This is “the only legal sentence, without invading the highest office in the country”, says judge.
The American President-elect, Donald Trump was convicted, but without punishment this Friday for illegal payments to buy the silence of the pornographic actress Stormy Danielswith whom he had an extramarital relationship.
Judge Juan Merchan’s sentence, pronounced during a hearing in New York, condemns Trump to a “unconditional release”which does not carry a prison sentence or fine or probation.
“I wish him good luck as he assumes his second term”, said the judge, reinforcing that this is “the only legal sentence, without invading the highest office in the country”.
Trump is thus convicted without having to pay a fine or serve any type of sentence, on probation or in prison.
Trump denounces “shame” and will appeal
Participating virtually in the session, from his mansion in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump described the trial as a “shame on the system” and guaranteed that he will appeal the court’s decision.
“It’s a shame for the system”, denounced the Republican, who will enter the White House in ten days as the North American President to be convicted in a criminal case.
