When it comes to barbecue, many people immediately think of grilled picanha and cold beer with vinaigrette and that garlic bread.

However, when money is tight, you need to find more economical options, without losing quality.

The butcher Emerson took to social media with a list of cheaper meats for barbecue that are in no way inferior to picanha. Check it out now:

6 cheapest meats for barbecue that are nothing like picanha

1. Beef chuck

Chuck meat is in the running because it is one of the most versatile and tasty beef meats.

In addition to being cost-effective, it has an intense flavor, lots of juiciness and tenderness. It can be grilled or roasted and achieves a level of tenderness due to its rich layer of marbling.

2. Palette core

Even though it is less known and valued, the core of the palette is the noblest part of the palette, having a soft texture and more moderate marbling. So, grilled, roasted or marinated, it melts in the mouth and is rich in nutrients and protein.

3. Breast tip

The chest tip wins third position. Therefore, it is best known for being a more fibrous cut and ideal for long-cooking recipes, roasts and stews. When properly roasted or smoked, it has an irresistible caramelized crust on the outside and a soft texture on the inside.

4. Hard thigh

Firstly, this cut needs to be from a confined animal, according to the butcher. Therefore, it is a firmer and very fibrous cut, as it comes from a region where the ox exerts greater effort. Good value for money and great for roasts, shredded meat and yields a lot.

5. Termite

Another one that comes very close to picanha, but with some differences.

The termite is located in the front part of the ox, close to the neck, and has intertwined fibers, as well as a large amount of interspersed fat.

6. Diaper

Finally, the flank steak is located in the rear part of the ox, close to the ribs, and is made up of long, relatively loose fibers. When grilled over high heat, it creates a caramelized crust on the outside that is delicious.
