The federal deputy (MG), one of the main leaders of the PSDB, stated that his party is in talks about federation, merger or incorporation with other parties, but complained about what he calls a process of co-opting tucano cadres without due institutional dialogue.

Without naming names, he said that this offensive could even result in toucans going to other parties, but that the party will not bend.

“This type of co-optation that we are witnessing there in a very assertive and at times even impolite way does not serve the interest of the PSDB, we are not looking for anyone who can solve the regional problem of A, B or C”, he said on Thursday- fair (9).

Previously an electoral powerhouse, the PSDB took a fall at the polls in recent years, which led Mário Covas and José Serra’s party to descend from the big party’s shelf to the medium party’s, with the risk of going to the small and runts.

The tucanos lost more than half the number of federal deputies and did not elect any senators in 2022.

The federation with Cidadania was of little use, having had the worst electoral results among the three formed so far.

As a result, there is a threat of toucans leaving the party, including the three governors (from Rio Grande do Sul, Raquel Lyra, from Pernambuco, and Eduardo Riedel, from Mato Grosso do Sul), especially the one from .

“I want to join forces that are willing to exchange positions and positions of power for a project for Brazil. We don’t want to be another number in the accounting of any political party, we want to discuss with those who are willing to separate themselves from these two extremes”, said Aécio, in reference to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and Lula (PT).

Today, Kassab’s party is part of Lula’s base, with three ministries, in addition to the government in São Paulo led by Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), a former minister and one of Bolsonaro’s main allies.

Kassab stated that he was unaware of any action by the PSD to co-opt PSDB staff, but said he saw “with great satisfaction an approach with a party that has excellent staff as its members.”

A Sheet He tried to speak to the president of the PSDB, the former governor of Goiás Marconi Perillo, but was unable to contact him.

Aécio confirmed that there are institutional conversations between the PSDB and , , and .

“The PSDB will build an alliance in the center with forces that are willing to do so and that is why we have expanded our conversations. From February onwards we will resume them with more intensity.”

According to him, there needs to be institutional conversation, however. “We are very uncomfortable with this search for personal co-optation of PSDB leaders without discussing a project for Brazil.”

The president of the MDB, federal deputy Baleia Rossi, also confirmed talks with the PSDB for a possible federation, merger or incorporation.

“We are demonstrating to them that there is interest from the MDB as a whole in this reunification with the PSDB. It is not an isolated thing. We have the same DNA, we were very important in Fernando Henrique’s government and they were very important in Michel’s government [Temer]”, Rossi said.

“I think it makes a lot of sense for us to do this unification again. We know that there are some issues still to be resolved, but I told Marconi, I told Aécio and I told all their leaders that we have every interest to have this conversation.”

Rossi said that both he and Temer, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, the minister and the leader of the bench in the Chamber, Isnaldo Bulhões Jr. (AL), have spoken with some of the main leaders of the PSDB, including Aécio, Perillo and Beto Richa (PR).

In addition to the MDB-PSDB negotiations, Baleia Rossi’s party is also evaluating a federation with the PSD to face a possible union of parties in the center.

It is a super federation that would unite Arthur Lira (AL) and Ciro Nogueira (PI) with União Brasil de Davi Alcolumbre (AP) and Hugo Motta (PB) — the latter two, the respective favorites to command and Chamber from February.

If formed, this federation would aim to join forces to have more influence in Congress and the states, in addition to expanding bargaining power with the federal government.

a measure taken at the time in response to the ban on coalitions and (or performance), which aims to remove subtitles with low electoral performance from circulation.

When federating, the parties are obliged to act together in the Legislature and in the Legislature for at least four years.

There are currently approved in 2022 with validity until at least the first half of 2026 —1) , PC do B e , 2) and Citizenship and 3) and Network.
