Biden extends deportation protection for 900,000 migrants

Washington – The US government of outgoing President Joe Biden extended protection from deportation for 900,000 migrants a few days before Donald Trump took office. On Friday, the Department of Homeland Security renewed registration for the so-called TPS program for 18 months for the countries Ukraine, Venezuela, El Salvador and Sudan. This gives immigrants from these countries protection from deportation and access to work permits.
