Drivers, beware! The excavated mountain pass was closed for part of the traffic

The Donovaly Mountain Pass (HP) was closed to freight traffic over ten meters long on Saturday afternoon. The reason is heavy snowfall. The Žilina regional police drew attention to this on the social network.

The Slovak Road Administration (SSC) reported on its website that all monitored highway sections and expressways in the Slovak Republic are passable, the surface of the roads is mostly dry to wet. On sections D1 Važec – Bôrik, D3 Čadca – Skalité and R3 Trstená, sever – Tvrdošín, there is slushy snow of up to one to two centimeters on the road in places.

“The roads of the first, second and third class are passable, the surface of the roads is mostly dry to wet. In mountainous areas, there is a layer of fresh, slushy or compacted snow with a thickness of one to three centimeters on the roads,” SSC added.

According to her, HP are passable with restrictions, the road surface is mostly dry to wet. At HP Besník, Čertovica, Donovaly, Fačkov, Grajnár, Huty, Javorník, Makov, Oravská Lesná, Podspády, Príslop, Súľová, Vernár, Vrchslatina and Zbojská there is a layer of fresh, slushy or compacted snow with a thickness of one to two centimeters and on HP Štós there is icy snow with a thickness of two centimeters in places.
