Glue this to the sole of your shoes. Slippery sidewalks will no longer be a problem

Winter walks have their own charm. However, it may be slightly damaged by slippery sidewalks. Especially when our shoes do not have a suitable sole and their grip needs to be improved. Then it is worth using proven home remedies to avoid icy surfaces. We advise you how to secure your soles to minimize the risk of falling on ice.

In winter, we can make walking on slippery sidewalks much easier by using proven home remedies. One of them is gluing a product to the sole that basically everyone has in their home. We’re talking about plasters.

Fabric dressing plasters will work well in this role and can be easily stuck to the sole. Enough is enough we will stick it on the shoe in the shape of the letter “X”. This will prevent you from slipping on icy sidewalks.

However, we must remember that this solution is not permanent and the patches will soon begin to peel off due to moisture. Therefore, we need to check whether they are still on the sole and apply new patches if necessary.

Sticking patches is not the only way to protect your soles from slipping. In winter, we can also use several other tricks that are simple yet effective. Here are other methods to avoid slipping on sidewalks:

  • Silicone – just use transparent silicone and add a few protrusions to the soles of the shoes. Thanks to this, the footwear will have a similar structure to non-slip socks. The advantage of this solution is that it is relatively durable.
  • Papier abrasive – it is also a method that is fast and effective. All you have to do is rub the soles of your shoes with sandpaper and they will become rougher and therefore more adhesive. However, be careful not to rub too hard so as not to damage the shoes. We can additionally spray the soles with hairspray to enhance the effect. The downside of this trick is that we have to repeat it before each exit because it is not permanent.
  • Potato – this is a little-known, but effective method. We just need to cut the potato and rub it on the sole. This way we will leave starch on it, which will make our shoes much less slippery.

However, if these methods do not appeal to us, we can simply visit a shoemaker who will install rubber anti-slip pads on the shoes. We can also go to the store ourselves and buy stickers or anti-slip pads. Their installation is quite easy, and these products are considered durable.
