There is no information about Portuguese people being injured as a result of the fires, which have already caused a total of 10 deaths, according to US authorities
The homes of two Portuguese families living in the Los Angeles area burned to the ground as a result of the fires that have been devastating the region for several days, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Lusa this Friday.
The source added that the two families have not asked for support and that the Consulate General of Portugal in San Francisco is trying to contact them.
More Portuguese or Portuguese-descendant families reside in the area affected by the fires, so it is expected that more cases of Portuguese people affected by the fires will be counted, the source also said.

Local authorities in Los Angeles announced that areas affected by the fires, and which have become targets for looting, are under curfew.
“You cannot be in these affected areas. If they are, they could be arrested. We are doing this to protect the buildings and homes that people abandoned because they were told to,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said at a press conference this Friday.
Los Angeles has been devastated throughout the week by five different fires, which have already caused 10 deaths and the destruction of around 10,000 buildings, forcing 180,000 people to leave their homes.
