The opposition KDH does not plan to enter into a coalition or “pact” with the Christian Union (KÚ) party due to their closeness in conservative issues. KDH chairman Milan Majerský stated this in an interview with TASR. However, he reminds that the door to KDH is open. KÚ operates in the parliament in the parliamentary club together with the Slovakian movement and the party For the People. According to Majerský, they know how to support each other’s proposals, but possible cooperation on creating a joint list of candidates for the next elections is not on the table now.

KDH had a meeting with KÚ representatives after the summer holidays, where they exchanged opinions. “We talked about topics, about legislation, which, if it is of value type, we will support each other. We do it even without meeting. After all, they have never avoided voting for our proposals, we are without it that we would have to talk about it more closely, support their things,” stated Majerský for TASR. According to him, when it comes to questions of value, they are the same without the need for tactical steps.

“We didn’t talk about the fact that we should immediately conclude a coalition or a pact, a contract or some union with the Christian Union, nothing like that was on the table.” the head of KDH described the meeting.

“I keep saying that the door to the KDH is open and many can come to the KDH. After all, even the last parliamentary elections showed that the KDH can also concentrate people who were in other political entities, or left and returned,” stated and reminded, for example, František Miklošek.

Majerský pointed out that the KDH also cooperates with the Slovakian movement, which consists of a parliamentary club with KÚ and Za lídů. “KDH has the opportunity to provide 11 signatures for legislative changes, 15 signatures are needed. That is why it also cooperates with other political parties and not only with the Slovakia movement, but also with SaS, with the PS to be able to present some specific change in the legislation, “ he added that they are on the same wavelength with many deputies.

Many speeches of some politicians of the Slovakia movement, however, hinder the Christian Democrats. “We are hindered by their expressive vocabulary, insults of individual politicians and attacks of a personal nature, and we will never be identified with that and we will never tolerate this,” concluded Majerský.
