After former idols, presenters and musicians, President Lula (PT) made a Pix to pay off Corinthians’ debt with Caixa Econômica Federal for Neo Química Arena. The Chief Executive donated R$1,013 and took advantage of the federal government’s publicity of the act.
“Everyone knows that I am a Corinthians fan. I’m in my office, I’ve never worn the Corinthians shirt (here). But today I added it because I’m going to make a donation to Corinthians via Pix. Why did I make this decision? Because there have been a huge amount of lies since yesterday on all social networks saying that the government is going to tax Pix. I want to prove it’s a lie. The government will not tax Pix. What we can do is monitor to prevent money laundering,” he said in a video published on social media.
In the post, Lula speaks while First Lady Janja performs the operation and shows the computer and cell phone screen, with proof of the donation. “I am with the Corinthians fans because I believe in Pix, in the government, and we are not going to tax”, reiterated the president.
After an encouraging start, the Gaviões da Fiel donation campaign lost momentum in the final weeks of last year. The goal is to raise R$700 million, the amount owed by the club to Caixa Econômica Federal for the construction of the stadium in Itaquera. The R$34.9 million already raised represents 4.98% of the total.
