The impact of the collision resulted in the amputation of José Lima’s arm, which could not be reimplanted due to severe lacerations. According to a hospital employee, who preferred not to be identified, the limb was taken to the hospital by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) team, but the complete tear in the shoulder region made the reimplantation procedure unfeasible.

Maria de Fátima suffered internal bleeding, with serious damage to her liver and one of her kidneys. She underwent emergency surgery and, depending on the evolution of her clinical condition, she may require a new surgical procedure in the coming days.

The young woman’s family has been appealing for blood donations to help with her treatment. Those interested can contact the Blood Center of Cruzeiro do Sul to make the donation.
