Offensive against MST encourages attacks, says deputy – 01/11/2025 – Panel

The offensive by Congress against it is directly related to violent attacks committed against the group, assesses federal deputy João Daniel (PT-SE), former coordinator of the MST in Sergipe.

“This is an open encouragement to violence, to murder in the countryside. It is absurd. The attack on the Olga Benário camp needs to be investigated and it needs to be criminalized based on hate speech and support for this type of action.”

He stated that President Lula (PT) contacted members of the movement in São Paulo, making Minister Macaé Evaristo (Human Rights) available to support the case. “We expect exactly that, that the minimum amount of justice will be done through the investigation and exemplary punishment of those who committed this crime.”
