Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday that Ukrainian investigators are questioning two wounded North Korean soldiers who were captured in Russia’s Kursk region. TASR reports according to the AFP agency. “Our soldiers captured North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. It is about two soldiers who, despite being injured, survived and were taken to Kyiv, and they are talking to SBU (Ukraine’s secret service) investigators,” Zelenskyy specified.
“It was not an easy task: Russian forces and other North Korean military personnel routinely execute their wounded to erase any evidence of North Korea’s involvement in the war against Ukraine,” wrote Zelensky on the Facebook social network, and at the same time thanked all the participating soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces who participated in the capture of the two wounded North Koreans.
“Like all prisoners of war, these two North Korean soldiers are receiving the necessary medical care,” the Ukrainian president added. He also added that he ordered the SBU secret service to allow journalists access to these prisoners of war. “The world needs to know the truth about what is happening,” noted Zelensky, who also attached photos of two wounded men with Asian features on bunk beds to the post, but did not provide evidence that they were North Korean soldiers, writes AFP.
One of the photos showed a Russian army identification card for a 26-year-old man from Russia’s Tuvian Republic, which borders Mongolia. AFP reminds that Russia is also trying to hide North Korean fighters by issuing fake identification cards.
