It does not require any subscription, as we know it from fitness studios, nor the purchase of equipment, as is customary in yoga centers, where you need to equip yourself with clothes for exercise and in many cases they ask clients to bring their own mats. But here you don’t even need to take out your wallet.

In today’s very hectic time full of stress, many of us are trying to find effective practices to fight everyday anxieties. We present a description of an interesting method originally from Japan, which is currently crossing social networks and is literally a hit. And it’s free, too. Well, don’t take it.

To the forest not only for mushrooms

The Japanese themselves claim that the technique called “Shinrin-Yoku” has one important feature, namely that it is simple. When we translate Shinrin Yoku literally, we get to the meaning “forest bathing”and the practice develops from the forest, i.e. staying in nature. Yes, it really is literally immersion in the forest environment, with all your senses.

Co je Shinrin-Yoku?

The main idea is, we repeat, staying in nature, it is widely known that it has a positive effect on both spectrums of our health, be it physical or mental. Why? It’s quiet there because you’re usually far away from the sound of the booming sound of cars whizzing down the highway. The sun is shining and the birds are singing.

How to practice the method

Find a place in nature where you can walk without any of the distractions you know from your regular life. If you don’t have a forest in your backyard, feel free to choose a park or any green area.

Do not bring your phone or any other device that could allow someone to catch you. Leave it at home, in the car, anywhere but in your pocket or purse. The world won’t fall apart without you. In short, disconnect completely. Just set yourself on the mode “I’m not here for anyone but myself”. Repeatedly say to yourself: “Just me and nature”.

And now to the point. Go slowly, take your time. You have no reason. You are now and here and you are only you. This is not an intense exercise, allow your body to relax and adapt to the surrounding environment.

Use all your senses and pay attention to what you see, hear, smell and feel. Observe the colors of the leaves, listen to the birds chirping, feel the texture of the tree bark and breathe the fresh air. The absolute most ideal is to spend at least 20 minutes like this, but half an hour is better.

Good result

You will see for yourself that you will leave the forest relaxed and with a calm pulse. You can complete the whole session by thinking about your feelings at the end, it is effective to keep a diary in some form and write down your thoughts and experiences in it.

You can start it as soon as you get back to your phone after half an hour of relaxation. Repeat the Shinrin-Yoku method at least 2 times a week, it is proven to really reduce stress levels and even fight diseases related to an agile lifestyle. In Japan, they have been betting on it for 40 years, and the fact that you can practice it all year round is another advantage.
