Elderly man missing for three days in Sintra found in a state of hypothermia and malnourished

The elderly man was found in a state of hypothermia and malnourished at 11:00 this Sunday. He had been missing since January 9th when he went out for a walk, without his cell phone.

A found an 87-year-old man who had been missing for three days in a bush area in Mira Sintra, in the municipality of Sintra, the security force announced this Sunday.

“According to the information provided, the missing person suffered from heart disease and dementia” and the PSP classified “the incident as a high risk for the victim”.

With resources from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, kinesthetic means from the Special Police Unit and the use of drones from the PSP, with the support of the Cacém Volunteer Firefighters, the elderly man was found at 11:00 this Sundayaccording to the PSP.

“The elderly man was found in a state of hypothermia and malnourished and was taken to Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando da Fonseca for observation, and the family was immediately contacted for information and follow-up,” says the PSP in a statement.
