The singer Lisa Marie Presley (1968–2023) spoke of his relationship with his mother, the actress and businesswoman Priscilla Presley79, in his book “Towards the Great Mystery: Memoirs”which was released in October 2024.
In the first chapters, the singer’s only daughter Elvis Presley (1935-1977) mentions that Priscilla considered trying to fall off a horse to cause an abortion and that she did not want to gain weight due to pregnancy. “I was a pain in the ass for her immediately and always felt like she was unwanted,” he reveals.
“I believe that fetuses feel energy from the womb, so maybe I already got that vibe of trying to get rid of me. One day she kind of decided to have the baby, but at the time she didn’t show great maternal instincts. Maybe that’s my problem”, he said afterwards.
In another part of the production, she mentions that she understands that her mother was strong and worried about the possibility of her being a spoiled child.
“She was very strict, actually. She was never my friend, someone I could talk to. I felt like I was a trophy. She wanted me to have a debutante ball—I didn’t even know what that was, but she always wanted one. He wanted me to graduate. I thought she must have had a different daughter”, he adds.
Throughout the book, she recalls other childhood traumas, such as the episodes when she was just 10 years old.

“A few years before I was born, Priscilla had a second son, named . Priscilla was a mother again, and so was my mother, so they spent a lot of time together because they had young children,” she says.
Finally, she explains that motherhood ended up becoming a point of understanding between them, a fresh start and a “ceasefire”, however, Riley explains that her mother was somewhat jealous of , as she knew that this was “the little boy who Priscilla loved it.”
