Text amends CLT and Benefits Law to expressly include maintenance in cases of sick leave due to serious illness
The PL (bill) ensures that employees on sick leave due to serious illnesses continue to receive food assistance. The proposal is under analysis in the Chamber of Deputies.
According to the authors of the proposal, deputies (Cidadania-AM) and (MDB-RR), the objective is to prevent workers from resuming their activities without being fully recovered due to a possible loss of the benefit.
The text amends (Consolidation of Labor Laws) and to expressly include the maintenance of food assistance in cases of sick leave due to serious illness.
“Although the CLT contemplates several rights for employees on sick leave, the maintenance of the food benefit is not explicitly guaranteed”says Amom Mandel. “The food benefit is essential for the subsistence of many employees, particularly those undergoing treatment for serious illnesses. During this time, health and medication costs increase, making continued assistance even more important.”it says.
According to the congressman, adequate nutrition is an important part of the recovery process. He also says that employees who return to work without being fully recovered can spread disease, especially in environments that require close contact with other people.
Processing
The project is underway in conclusive character and will be analyzed by the Work committees; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship. To become law, the measure must be approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate.
