Russia said on Sunday it had captured two villages in eastern Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, these are the villages of Kalinov in Kharkiv and Jantarna in the Donetsk region, reports TASR according to AFP.

The village of Jantarne is located approximately ten kilometers southwest of the key logistics hub of Kurachov, which Russia claims to have captured last week. Kalinove is located in the northeastern Kharkiv region on the west bank of the Oskil River, which was the front line there for a long time.

However, according to the statement of one of the Ukrainian representatives on Thursday, the Russian troops managed to create a bridgehead on the western bank of this river.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Sunday that falling fragments of drones damaged residential areas in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava regions, but no civilians were injured. According to local authorities, three people were injured in the southern Ukrainian Kherson region on Sunday. In the Russian-controlled part of the Kherson region, a Ukrainian drone attacked a vehicle, killing a 76-year-old woman who was in her home. This was stated by Moscow-appointed governor Vladimir Saldo in a post on the Telegram platform.
