“Shocked” and “angry” at her ex-husband’s lie, the Australian annulled the marriage. But until then, I didn’t even know I was married.
A woman who did not give her name, but told her story to , wanted to live in Australia, went to Melbourne and applied for permanent residence.
In September 2023, she met her boyfriend on a dating platform. He was “a social media person” and had more than 17,000 followers on Instagram, he says.

“I’m furious with the fact that I didn’t know it was a real marriage, with the fact that he lied from the beginning and with the fact that he also wanted me to include him in my candidacy”, he lamented.
The sentence reads that the “bride” he believed, in fact, “that he was acting. He called the event ‘a prank’. It made perfect sense for her to adopt the persona of a bride in all things at the contested ceremony in order to increase the credibility of the video depicting a legally valid marriage.”
