A small plane crashed this Saturday (11 January 2025) in the region of Montenegro (RS), around 60 km from the capital Porto Alegre. According to , which carried out the rescue operation, the 2 occupants of the aircraft were rescued alive and taken to a hospital.

The person piloting the plane was 54 years old. He is a flight instructor and former mayor of Montenegro. According to information from , he was treated for pain in the lower back. The student was unharmed.

The plane that crashed in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul is a glider, that is, it does not have an engine. It takes off with the help of another aircraft and flies using the air currents.
