The delegation of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic, led by Deputy Speakers of Parliament Andrej Danko (SNS) and Tibor Gašpar (Smer-SD), left on Sunday morning for a working visit to Russia. The delegation also includes MPs Marián Kéry, Ján Mažgút and Richard Glück (all Smer-SD) and Adam Lučanský (SNS). According to Gašpar, the topics of the negotiations should be, among other things, the supply of natural gas to Slovakia and the war in Ukraine.
Since the Poles forbade flying over their territory, the flight was diverted and will fly over the Czech Republic and Germany. “I don’t understand Poland’s position, but I take it as reality,” stated Danko. Before his departure, he made it clear that he wanted to bring, among other things, information about life in Russia. “I want to show that people also live there, that Germans, French, Americans do business there,” he said.
According to Dank and Gašpar’s previous statements, the Slovak delegation should meet with representatives of the State Duma and some members of the government. According to Danko, he wants to see how it is in Russia, for example, with Western investments. Gašpar, in turn, announced that the delegation also wants to ask whether the Russian concern Gazprom can supply gas to Slovakia despite the stoppage of transit by Ukraine.
