Legendary actress Helena Růžičková († 67) was a loving mother to her only son Jiří († 43), who thanks to her got into acting and was made famous by the trilogy Sun, hay…, where he played the character of “fat Jozef”. Jirka was married three times. His ex-wife Helena, whom they divorced after 8 years, spoke for him.
Helena did not have a good relationship with her mother-in-law. But it wasn’t always like that. As Jirko’s ex-wife revealed, everything went wrong after the birth of their first daughter Lucie. “In my opinion, Mrs. Helena took it hard that my husband Jirka started paying more attention to his newborn daughter than to her. I even think that she started behaving as if little Lucka had driven a wedge between his son and her. And then she started telling me about her education and care. And I couldn’t stand that,” she recalled the bad relations in the family.
The couple lived with Helena Růžičková in the same apartment for two years. “There was an unhealthy relationship between mother and son, it was exaggerated on her part, like that monkey love,” Helena revealed. The actress had a cottage in the Czech village of Slatina. After the death of Jiří, it was inherited by their two daughters Lucia and Kamila.
A commemorative plaque of Helena Růžičková was supposed to be placed in this place, but her former daughter-in-law refused. “The mayor of the village asked me for it and I said no. I did not and do not want the family’s privacy to be disturbed by groups of curious people looking in. I said, let the municipal office take care of it.” Helena explained.
She even had the place where her father-in-law’s ashes were buried canceled in the garden. “The dead belong in the cemetery. What if my daughters sell the cottage one day? What would happen to their grandfather, where would he end up? I asked Mr. Lukeš from Horažďovice, he took the ashes out and scattered them in Olšany. In the same place where Mrs. Helena’s mother is also, she herself and my ex-husband Jiří. They are there together,” added Jiří Růžička’s ex-wife.
