The announced, this Monday (13), that the Brazilian will continue as the team’s reserve and test driver during the 2025 season, extending his contract since his arrival in 2022. The Brazilian will now have the company of Stoffel Vandoornewho also competed in Formula 2, and will share the position to test the team’s cars. While continuing in this role, he must be a constant presence at races throughout the season, alternating duties with his teammate in the pits.

Happy with the decision, the 24-year-old from Paraná is looking forward to a promising year, mainly due to the fact that he will exchange experiences with the main Formula 1 drivers and be able to experience the entire atmosphere that surrounds the category’s races. “I am delighted to remain with Aston Martin for a third full season as a test and reserve driver. There is great momentum in this team and I am excited to see what we can achieve together. The incredible new facilities, including the brand new simulator, demonstrate the team’s ambition, and I am committed to being part of their long-term success,” Drugovich said in a statement released by the English team.

Mike Krack, who recently took on the role of track director as part of organizational restructuring following the arrival of Andy Conwell, has also praised the Brazilian since he joined Aston Martin. “Felipe has been a vital member of our team since joining and we are pleased to continue his work until 2025. His behind-the-scenes contributions, particularly in the simulator and during testing sessions, have been invaluable. He doesn’t make any mistakes behind the wheel,” he said.

In addition to his commitment to Formula 1, the Brazilian will also participate in the 24 hours of Daytona, on the 25th of this month. Krack took advantage of the statement to express his support for his pupil. “We wish him good luck in the race”, he concluded. In the last two years, Aston Martin has been trying to consolidate itself among the major Formula 1 teams. Although it did not enter the direct fight for the Constructors’ World Championship, the team finished the 2023 and 2024 editions in fifth place among the teams.
